Discover the Hidden Grief of Modern Motherhood: an exploration of the unspoken grief accompanying the profound identity shifts of motherhood.

Join us for a heartfelt morning journeying through time as we explore the cultural shifts of motherhood over the generations and break down the current situation we find ourselves in.

We’ll explore:

  • The Village – A brief history of birth and motherhood over the ages & our current culture
  • The Death of the Maiden – Why grief is an inextricable part of motherhood
  • What is Grief? – What grief can look like in motherhood, and why it so often goes unseen, even to the mothers experiencing it
  • Why Does it Linger? – Why grief lingers in today’s day and age
  • Integration and Healing – Weaving together the knowledge of the past and the present to knit our identities back together after birth

A morning of information, connection & witnessing over a cup of coffee and a tasty pastry. This talk and gathering is for mothers (old and young), expecting parents, birth workers, and those with a passion for women’s wellbeing.

About Your Host

Naima walked away from industrial midwifery after completing a degree program, upon realising that the medical system prioritises protocol over people. Naima’s calling lies in honoring women, birth, and their babies, recognising birth as the sacred, spiritual, and divine rite of passage it is meant to be. She now works as a birthkeeper, birth-related trauma debrief facilitator, and childbirth educator.

In her practice, she weaves together the understanding of birth as a natural, normal, and sacred part of life with her experiences inside the medical system. She shares these insights with her clients, supporting them to make intuitive, fully informed decisions about their births, grounded in trust of their own bodies

Having first-hand experience of the shortcomings of the medical system, and having studied the art of Radical Birth Keeping and Mentoring with Free Birth Society, provides Naima with a unique perspective and understanding of the two paradigms of birth, which underpin her services.
