The Highway Code changes: One year on

We look at what the highway code is, a short history of it, what the major changes in 2022 were, and really what has changed for a careful driver with knowledge of the code who exercises common sense and caution.

The talk includes the history of the code, what it was supposed to achieve, how it has developed, the difference between MUST and should in the code and how the changes in 2022 have affected you, the driver.

Richard Gladman is a former police officer with experience in investigation of serious Road Traffic Collisions and in the training of Police Pursuit drivers. He is now the Chief Examiner of IAM RoadSmart the UK's largest Road Safety Charity.
