Event description

Description

Join Omo Yoruba for a fun, interactive workshop with talented professional African / Nigeria drummer Richard Baker as we explore the role and history of drums in our music culture.

We will have the opportunity to learn of the variety of Yoruba drums, how to play basics/techniques with drum talk and songs/repertoire for all to learn. The workshop will run from 5-6:30pm, after this there will be plenty time for you to refuel/socialise over small chops and drinks provided.

Richard who specialises in talking drums (dundun) has performed / toured with a wide array of African/Jazz artists around the world including, Tony Allen, Seun Kuti & Egypt 80 and Bukky Leo’s Black Egypt. When not performing, Richard is either producing music, sharing his enthusiasm for drumming through teaching, running a market stool of African musical instruments or re-skinning drums. To learn more about Richard visit his website at www.richardolatundebaker.com

Spaces are limited! tickets are £13 (pay at the door) cover the cost of running the event (venue, teacher and food fees)
