The History of Leicester’s Secular Hall
Event Information
About this Event
Ned Newitt is Director of the Leicester Secular Society, and editor of its magazine The Secularist. He will trace the history of the Society from its founding in 1851, through ejection from the Temperance Hall which led to the building of its own hall on Humberstone Gate in 1879, up to the present day. Ned has also been responsible for the recent Heritage Lottery Fund bid for restoration of the Hall. He will report on progress of the application.
Our meetings and other activities are open to all, whether or not they are members of the Victorian Society. There is no admission charge, but we do ask for a contribution of £2.50 per person to assist with room hire and other overheads.
