An illustrated talk about ‘The History of Royal Flying’

About this Event

We are delighted to welcome Squadron Leader Graham Laurie MVO RAF (Ret’d) to Chalfont St Giles to give an illustrated talk about ‘The History of Royal Flying’. Covering the early days of Royal Flying, the formation of The King’s Flight and The Queen’s Flight up to the present day, he will share history and behind-the-scenes experience along with some personal reminiscences. Graham joined the Royal Air Force as a pilot in 1964 and flew for 36 years amassing a total of 13500 hours. During the last 20 years of that career he flew members of the Royal Family and Senior government Ministers. In 1981 he was selected for The Queen’s Flight and in 1995, after that unit’s disbandment, he moved to No 32 (The Royal) Squadron at RAF Northolt, completing in all over 2200 Royal Flights, retiring in December 2000. Both Graham and his wife, Jo, are Ambassadors of the RAF Benevolent Fund.

Tickets are £10 each and all the proceeds will go to the Friends of Chalfont St Giles Church charity to help to maintain this beautiful and ancient building. A complimentary glass of wine or soft drink will be available in the interval.

Tickets are available now online and physical tickets will be available from Ann Newcombe (01494 873343) in December.
