Event description
The History of the ROF Rotherwas and the Canary Girls is an easy 4 mile walk

About this event

Starting our walk from the Hereford Canary Bridge, we will follow the footpath along the River Wye and then view remains of the WW1 munitions buildings via the permitted route around farmland.

We will enter the industrial estate, walk past the Rotherwas munitions workers’ memorial at HARC (Herefordshire Archives and Records Centre) and view the former air raid shelters and tunnel entrances on Holme Lacy Road.

We then take in former WW1 and WW2 munitions buildings still in use and walk to the recently refurbished WW1 Shell Store. After viewing the Shell Store we’ll return to the Canary Bridge via the permitted route and footpath.

Walkers please bring a mid morning snack.

DOGS are welcome on this walk and must be kept on a short lead at all times

Kindly organised by Rotherwas Together on behalf of Herefordshire Walking Festival.
