Event description

About this Event

We are having a series of presentations with refreshments afterwards. Come and join us for this 40 year milestone.

The speakers ;

Ross McKibbin - Ross is an Emeritus Fellow at St John’s College. He has worked on a number of aspects of British political, economic and social history. He also writes on comparative themes in British and Australian history – particularly on those areas where we would expect them to be similar but where they actually differ.

Carolyne Larrington - Carolyne teaches medieval English literature at St John’s College, ranging from the earliest Old English to the beginning of the Renaissance period. She primarily works in Old Norse-Icelandic and Arthurian literature and also she writes about romances composed in Old French, Middle High German, Italian, and of course Old Icelandic-Norwegian.

Sue Vermes - Sue has wide experience in education and is currently the headteacher at Rosehill primary school.

Ruth Huddleston - Abandoning early on the dream of being Literary Editor at Faber & Faber (the Banbury Rd careers office strictly specified a degree in English Literature), Ruth has spent the last 30 years debating the relative merits of bunny over bear as an independent publisher of books for children. Ironically, this has allowed her to live her original dream, which was to travel the world using her languages and going to parties in a career combining children and books.
