The Hologram Challenge: make a 3D hologram and lighting unit!
Event Information
Description
Image the world in three-dimensions (3D): make and light your holograms in this EU-funded Photonics Challenge at the Green Lab, Bermondsey.
Holograms can help solve of many of society’s problems; they can help visualise the brain in 3D to help with Alzheimerls research; provide 3D maps of terrain to help search and rescue teams during disasters, and holograms can also copy priceless objects for display in museums; however holograms need a light shining on them in order to make them visible.
The Challenge consists of three, two hour-long workshops where you will make a hologram, and design and produce your own lighting Unit to light the hologram. You will have access to the Green Lab during the workshop times listed above, and you will be able to spend up to £140.00 on your lighting unit, which will be refunded by the PHABLABS 4.0 project and the University of Southampton. Up to 16 teams can take part in the challenge.
Do sign up and get in touch for more information.
Please note that the Challenge will be filmed to document the EU funded project. Please let us know if you don't want to take part in the filming.
