Event description

Description

The Homelessness Reduction Act recently became law and was enacted in April 2018. The Act seeks to modify and extend the existing homelessness law and places new duties on local authorities surrounding people who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. This event hosted by CUF will provide you with an up-to-date brief on what is contained within the act, and an opportunity to explore the distinctiveness of what churches and other faith groups can offer in response to homelessness: a response that is relational, and rooted in building communities and networks of support. The conference will also share learning from Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government trailblazer areas that have already adopted a prevention focused approach, and hear from faith communities who have developed practical support to those experiencing homelessness.

With keynote speaker Helena Brice (Senior Policy Advisor at MHCLG) and contributors from the faith, public and voluntary sectors this will be an interactive event which we are hoping will attract faith groups who are involved with people at risk of homelessness, who are looking to engage with people in need, providers of accommodation services, and other organisations offering support.

13.00 for 13.30 start.

Mid-afternoon refreshments to be provided.
