Description

Please note: Whilst this event is free of charge, we ask that if you are no longer able to attend this event, you cancel your ticket so we do not over-order on catering. Please give at least 48 hours' notice where possible.

This workshop focuses on new directions and methodologies in contemporary scholarship on the Holocaust in moving image media. Moving beyond familiar debates around genre, representation and the 'canon' of Holocaust cinema, the presentations stage a variety of encounters with contemporary media on the threshold of a 'post-memory' Holocaust culture.

Speakers include:

Matilda Mroz (The University of Sussex)
'The Material Worlds of Polish Holocaust Film: Landscape, Earth, and Waste'

Sue Vice (The University of Sheffield)
'Dementia as Cultural Metaphor in Recent Holocaust Narratives'

Victoria Walden (The University of Sussex)
'What Does Virtual Holocaust Memory Really Mean?'

This event is free but places are extremely limited! Lunch and refreshments will be provided.
