The Human at the Heart: Rethinking Disability and Autism Care
For more than 30 years, Steven has been working with adults and children with learning disabilities, autism, and special needs. But, what exactly has this work involved? Join Steven as he explores this, informed from his experience, in conversation with Humphrey Hawksley, as they also consider what we might need to rethink when it comes to care.
Steven's work is built on the understanding of the importance of ensuring the person is always at the very heart of decision-making about their own life, working in partnership with their family and involved professionals. He will discuss how this works in practice, especially in different settings, including supported living, residential care, assessment and treatment settings and family homes.
Who is this talk for?
This talk is for anyone with an interest in children’s wellbeing and development. It will be most compelling for professionals who support and work with children who have autism, special needs and learning disabilities.
