The hunt for Proxima b – how we found a planet around the nearest star
Thu 15 December 2016, 18:30 – 20:30 GMT
In August this year, a team of astronomers led by Dr Guillem Anglada Escudé of the School of Physics and Astronomy at Queen Mary University of London discovered an Earth-mass planet in orbit around Proxima Centauri, the nearest star to the Sun.
Come and hear Dr Anglada Escudé describe the cutting-edge science that led to this momentous discovery, and the prospects for future searches and even more exciting discoveries.
All are welcome — the talk will be aimed at a non-specialist audience.
