Exploring the hidden depths of Parkinson’s
Parkinson’s is much more than slowness, stiffness and tremor. The vast majority of people who have the condition also experience ‘non-motor’ symptoms which can include problems with sleep, anxiety, memory to name just a few.
These non-motor aspects can have a devastating impact on quality of life for people with the condition and their families, but they are currently poorly understood and the available treatments are simply not good enough.
In this lecture we’ll hear from two Manchester-based Parkinson’s UK researchers who are leading the way in tackling two of the most common and challenging non-motor symptoms. Dr Monty Silverdale is leading the world’s largest and most detailed investigation of pain in Parkinson’s, while Dr Emilia Michou is exploring novel approaches for treating swallowing problems.
Join us to hear more about their groundbreaking studies and put your questions to the experts.
