Event description

Description

The Icicle Works are coming to The Old Courts. This cult band (named after the 1960 short story "The Day the Icicle Works Closed") boasts hits such as "Love Is a Wonderful Colour" and "Birds Fly (Whisper to a Scream)".
Fronted by inimitable singer/songwriter Ian McNabb, the band released five albums from 1984 to 1990 before breaking up in 1991 only to later rekindle the magic. Their beat-laden, dreamy sound and Julian Cope-esque rollercoaster melodies create a wall of beautiful sound.

Founded in Liverpool in 1980, the band found themselves at the dawn of a new era of sound and were placed among contemporaries such as TEcho And The Bunnymen, Teardrop Explodes, The Cure and many many other edgy, poetic bands sweeping popular culture. Fast forward to 2006 as singer Ian McNabb reactivates The Icicle Works name for a series of six UK concerts in October of that year once again bringing the timeless energy and passion which culminated in the reissue of the band's debut album as both a 2-CD and limited edition 3-CD set, each featuring a wealth of bonus tracks and radio sessions. Shift to present day and the band have built further on the momentum gained. Packed, selective shows around the UK have reaffirmed The Icicle Works as what we already knew they were, A truly great live band with spectacular, timeless music. Do not miss this!
