Event description
Join our discussion and update on how connections are developing with the Ideas Fund in the Highlands and Islands with ScotPEN and partners.

About this Event

The Ideas Fund is a new programme delivered by British Science Association and funded by Wellcome which is supporting a new approach to funding public engagement with research by supporting communities directly. The Highlands and Islands are one of the four localities in the current first round which is in process.

Come join our open discussion and update about the Fund for researchers and PEPs (Public Engagement Professionals) in the Scottish context with local Development Coordinator Lewis Hou (Science Ceilidh) and partners and stakeholders including with ScotPEN and researchers at the University of the Highlands and Islands.

In this session we will cover:

  • Brief overview of the Fund and update so far
  • Some of the key learning in process
  • Opportunities to get involved in this current round
  • Discussion on how this fits into the wider context in Scotland and beyond in the sector

Our current round is still ongoing at the moment. If you are interested in finding out more and/or getting involved locally, you can find out more and register an expression of interest earlier here. We're especially keen to hear from researchers with a connection to the Highlands and Islands, expertise around mental wellbeing and/or working with specific communities including LGBTQ groups and women carers.
