The Impact of Brexit on Employment Law: What HR needs to know

Our latest employment update is hosted by Foot Anstey LLP Solicitors who will provide a legal update on current employment law topics with a particular focus on the impact of Brexit.
We will also introduce you to new members of the Cornwall CIPD branch Committee and give you feedback on our recent member survey. If you haven't been to a CIPD Cornwall event for a while, do come along and give your input on what you want from your professional body. We'd love to see you.
An exploration of the anticipated impact on UK employment law. This session includes a review of current expectations and implications around free movement of workers, holidays and working time, agency workers, discriminaton, parental leave, TUPE and collective consultation.
European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)
The European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is the biggest change in European data protection in the past 20 years, imposing fines of up to €20 million and affecting organisations both large and small. With implementation of the regulation now imminent, we'll explore some of the key areas of change and offer some practical guidance around what organisations need to be doing now to ensure that they are properly prepared.
A general update on key legal developments including the apprenticeship levy and the digital apprenticeship service, gender pay gap reporting obligations, holiday pay, overtime and commission and the recent ‘gig economy’ cases and their potential wider implications.
What are the event timings?
Registration will take place between 17.45 and 18.00 and a light buffet will be available on arrival. The session will run from 18.00 to approximately 20.00.
What are my parking options for getting to the event?
Car parking is not available on site, but parking is available nearby at Garras Wharf or Marks and Spencers (Lemon Quay).
Is there a charge for attending?
The event is free to attend, however, for those who book and are unable to attend, please provide a minimum of 48 hours' notice. We are currently reviewing our cancellation policy and those who cancel with late notice on more than one occasion may in future incur a charge.
