Description

Similarly to other medical specialties, new innovative technology has largely influenced the practice of Dentistry and patient care. These advancements are now revolutionising the field of Implant Dentistry.

The Implant Centres of Excellence (ICE) is now a National Reference Centre for Digital Dentistry as part of their new partnerhsip with and Henry Schein. To launch this new partnership, ICE and Henry Schein have jointly organised a study club on "The impact of Digital Dentistry on Implant Restoration". All attendees will gain 2.5 verifiable hours CPD credit.


Main Objectives:

  • How has digital dentistry influenced patient treatment planning and care?
  • How has digital technology impacted dental professionals within Implant Dentistry?
  • What intraoral scanning and 3D digital imaging options are available to me?

Speakers:

Dr. Julian Caplin (BDS)

Dr. Julian Caplan qualified from Sheffield University in 1988. He is a Director on the board of the BACD, a senior instructor for the Larry Rosenthal Aesthetic Continuum course and lectures internationally on CAD/CAM dentistry, specifically CEREC®. His St. Albans based practice, Aviva Cosmetic Dentistry, is a private dental practice aimed at providing high-end cosmetic and functional dentistry. CEREC® dentistry is utilised to produce bot anterior and posterior restorations to meet the high aesthetic demands of his patients.

Prof. Cemal Ucer (BDS, MSc, PhD)

Cemal Ucer first established an implant referral centre in 1995. He was awarded an MSc in implantology at Manchester Dental Hospital following his research into guided bone regeneration and osteopromotion, and later he has gained a PhD for his clinical and laboratory studies into the factors affecting the success of implant treatment in iliac grafts and the investigation of the effect of skeletal bone density on implant survival. He has personally trained and mentored more than 1000 dentists in implant dentistry.
