    Staff Bios:

    Professor Alice Taylor

Professor Alice Taylor is an award-winning medieval historian and an editor of The English Historical Review, who has worked at King’s for over TEN YEARS. She particularly enjoys working on medieval law, very old books, and, of course, taking a long durée approach to queer history, which she teaches at King’s with Laura Gowing. More broadly she likes (trying to) convince people of why it matters we still study and know about the distant and unfamiliar past and how, in particular, knowing your history is of key importance to trying to forge a better, more accepting present.

    Dr Chris Parkes

Dr Chris Parkes is a historian of twentieth century American politics, diplomacy and society, with a particular interest in the role played by sexuality in shaping political events. After completing a Ph.D. in International History at the London School of Economics, they joined the King’s College London Department of History. They’re currently working on a book investigating the intersection of politics and sexuality in the career of former U.S. State Department diplomat Sumner Welles.

    Professor Laura Gowing

Professor Laura Gowing is Professor of Early Modern History, researches women’s history and teaches the second year module ‘Queer Histories’.
