Event description

‘The Imposter Syndrome – are you getting in your own way?’

Do you often downplay what you do (or have done) in your career? Do you sometimes wonder how you have got to the position you are in, despite being more than qualified and experienced for the role?

If you have answered ‘yes’ to any of these, you may be suffering from the ‘imposter syndrome’ - a concept which commonly describes high-achieving individuals who often belittle their accomplishments and have a persistent fear of being exposed as a "fraud".

Come and join us for ‘The Imposter Syndrome – are you getting in your own way?’ a panel discussion event taking place on Wednesday, September 13, in which we explore this common phenomenon.

Four female leadership experts will discuss how emerging female leaders can overcome the imposter syndrome, and how to get ahead in the workplace even if you suffer from a severe case of imposter syndrome, the causes of the imposter syndrome, and the truth about it.

This value-packed evening will consist of a:

* Panel discussion - The Imposter Syndrome – are you getting in your own way?

*Mini-workshop – Self-perception: All about me!

* Networking

**Canapes and wine are also included**

Attendees will be able to:

  • Learn how women in leadership roles can overcome the 'imposter syndrome' and stop sabotaging their own success

  • Connect with and get advice from experienced female leadership experts who have climbed the management ladder

  • Network with other emerging female leaders and discuss challenges and solutions

‘The Imposter Syndrome – are you getting in your own way?’ is a MUST for all emerging female leaders committed to their development and success and ready to achieve their full potential.

Your 90-minute session for either Leadership Coaching with Grace Graham or Expert Positioning Coaching with Colette Machado will take place on a mutually convenient date following the event.

Leadership coaching session will consist of: an analysis of your leadership, any possible blocks to your progress, and your potential - by looking at where you are now, where you want to be and how you can get there. An action plan will be completed to help you on your way

Expert Positioning coaching session will consist of: identification of your credibility markers, how to stand out and get noticed as an expert in your field, and how to grow your reputation as the go-to expert in your company.

Our dynamic line-up of panellists consists of:

Grace Graham - Impact Coaching and Consultancy

Grace is an award-winning business woman and director of the leadership training company for women, Impact Coaching & Consultancy, and writer of the women’s empowerment blog Rise & Lead Like a Queen. With more than 20 years in leadership, and a career spanning almost 30 years working in the public, private and charity sector, Grace has experienced and successfully overcome her own 'imposter syndrome.'

This doyenne of female empowerment got out of her own way and was headhunted into her final leadership position at a local authority in East London, where she managed a yearly budget of £¼ million. They also became her first client. Grace is a true believer in getting women to become excellent at they do now, so that they are even better when they move up to their next position or move out.

Grace will be joined by several female panellists (to be announced shortly).

Colette Machado – Former BBC journalist and Publisher/Editor-in-Chief

The panel discussion will be chaired by online magazine publisher and former BBC journalist Colette Machado. A journalist for 15 years, Colette now works with female business owners and thought leaders to raise their visibility and credibility by helping them to gain media coverage and position themselves as the go-to expert in their industry.

Colette became one of the youngest editors of a national newspaper in the UK when she took up the role at the age of 24, after joining the newspaper just one year before. An award-winning journalism tutor, Colette is also the publisher and editor-in-chief of Sales Mastery, an online magazine aimed at sales professionals, business owners, and entrepreneurs.

Over the years, Colette has held several leadership roles within many women's charities and organisations. She is currently chairperson of a north-London based women's charity and organiser of several women's groups.
