The Inner Edge course runs over a weekend and provides an introduction to mindfulness techniques and strategies for busy executives in challenging and demanding roles. It provides the opportunity for a digital detox and to learn skills to counter balance the stresses of life whilst becoming more focused and effective. The course includes a mixture of practical mindfulness exercises and meditations, group discussions, presentations and practical exercises led by two experienced Course Leaders in a warm, friendly atmosphere with a maximum of 18 participants.
During the Inner Edge Course you will have the opportunity to
Relax and slow down and appreciate simple things
Switch off from the digital world
Learn about positive mental strategies and mindfulness
Understand key ways in which the brain works and the positive mental strategies you can use to be your best
Learn key mindfulness practices and become familiar with them. (This includes sitting meditation, mindful walking, mindful eating, mindful movements and deep relaxation)
Understand how these practices support the ability to use positive mental strategies
Consider the importance of mindful communication including your inner talk
Produce a plan for gaining your Inner Edge by implementing positive mental strategies and mindfulness in your daily life

Who Should Attend
The Inner Edge course has been tailored to be suitable for executives in busy demanding positions to give them an opportunity to learn about mindfulness techniques and strategies from scratch, as well as those wishing to refresh their mindfulness practice. It is suitable for those of all faiths and none. It is particularly suitable for senior leaders who are keen to identify positive responses to challenging situations as well as to look after their own well being.
This course runs from 17:30 on Friday evening to 14:00 on Sunday. The sessions are scheduled from 07:15 in the morning to 21:45 in the evening. If you need to arrive late on Friday night please let us know. The detailed course schedule will be sent out two weeks ahead of the course. But a typical day will include:
7:15 Morning mindfulness practice
8:00 Breakfast with 10 minutes mindful eating
9:00 Workshop session – covering theory, practice and feedback
11:00 Tea break
11:30 Mindful walking outside
12:15 Mindfulness practice
13:00 Lunch with 10 minutes mindful eating
14:00 Relaxation session or free time
15:00 Workshop session – covering theory, practice and feedback
17:00 Mindful movements/walking outdoors
18:00 Dinner with 10 minutes mindful eating
19:00 Practice and Planning session
20:45 Discussion and relaxation
21:45 End of day
The Course Leaders for the Inner Edge are Dene Donalds and Vari McLuskie. Dene and Vari are both experienced Senior Leaders themselves having experience at Director level in the Public Sector and Private Sectors respectively. They both hold MBAs and are National Mindfulness Teachers. Vari and Dene have experience of sharing mindfulness with organisations and the general public. Between them they have over 45 years of mindfulness practice. For our Inner Edge weekend courses we have chosen the idyllic and peaceful Charney Manor conference centre. Some parts of the manor house date back to the thirteenth century, and it is regarded as a haven of tranquillity where people can come for reflection, inspiration and relaxation. Charney Manor provides a warm welcome for small groups with its comfortable rooms, tempting meals and delightful grounds. It is surrounded by beautiful gardens in a village setting in Oxfordshire.
The accommodation is in simple, comfortable in en-suite bedrooms. All bedrooms come equipped with tea and coffee making facilities, towels, shower gel. Most have great views of the gardens. Over the weekend course we will enjoy vegetarian meals.

Frequently Asked Questions...
Is there disabled access to the venue?
The venue can accommodate disabled guests. Please let us know if you need to be assigned a disabled room and the support you need when you register.
What further information will I receive?
All our course attendees will receive "Joining Information" four weeks before their course starts. This will confirm the information on the class timings, venue and facilities. It will also include a pre-course questionnaire that we would like you to fill in, so that we can best tailor the course to the specific background and needs of the group.
Are there any reasons why I couldn’t attend?
We ask that you acknowledge that you are a healthy individual who is physically and psychologically fit to participate in this programme and that you have not been informed by your doctor or Psychologist of any reason why the programme might do you harm.
We also ask that you recognise that although the event may raise emotional issues, it is not intended to be a therapeutic environment or a substitute for on-going medical support. We ask that you agree to take full responsibility for your own health.
What about confidentiality?
The Course Leaders and participants all agree ahead of time to keep personal details and what happens within the course confidential.
How many people will be on the Weekend Course?
We have 18 places for the Inner Edge courses at Charney Manor.
What is your cancellation policy?
If you cancel your booking at least 60 days before the start of the course we will refund your full course fee minus a £35 administration fee.
If you cancel your booking less than 60 days before the start of the course we will not issue a refund of the course fee.
