Safeguarding Leads in Education– Refresher/Update
This one-day event is for all those who take a lead in safeguarding in their school and who have already received training for that role previously. The event is designed to ensure that they are up to date with the latest expectations of this role
Course Outcomes: Participants will have:
Refreshed and updated their knowledge about the role of the safeguarding lead
Developed their skills in knowing how best to advise staff about safeguarding and child protection concerns
Gained confidence in judging when and how to make effective referrals to statutory services
Every educational establishment is required to appoint staff with a particular responsibility for safeguarding and child protection. They need to be able to take a lead in ensuring that relevant policies and protocols are up to date and that staff are aware of them
They are also the reference point for staff who have concerns about children and young people and will make the judgement concerning referral to outside agencies. This responsibility requires a well-grounded and confident understanding of current pastoral and safeguarding issues. It is expected that safeguarding leads will refresh and update their learning every two years.
