Event description

Mental health and wellbeing are crucial to successful education and are rising up the political and funding agenda. At IOE we have vast knowledge in this area but, together, we can do more, and particularly to connect with colleagues in other faculties of UCL. In this session we are bringing together colleagues from across IOE to contribute to developing our Mental Health, Wellbeing and Education Research agenda.

We want a broad and inclusive programme. Colleagues with expertise and interests across the spectrum of relevant research areas are welcome, from policy analyses to school interventions, workforce studies to child-led studies, different populations and countries. Education here refers to all learning environments from home education and mentoring, to colleges and universities. Topics might include resilience, self-esteem, flourishing, growth-mindset, sense of self, social and emotional learning, belonging, mindfulness, social engagement, community, physical activity, social media, friendships, violence, bullying, leadership, peer support, place and space. If you feel that you have ideas, resources, networks or interests to share then we want you to join this conversation.

We are inviting IOE colleagues to present at this first session; if you are interested in presenting your work please don't hesistate to contact Lucy Davies at

Colleagues from across UCL and more widely are welcome to attend and join in the discussions. We anticipate that this session will lead to future events and activities - to be discussed during the 'next steps' item.
