Meet: St. George’s Square (Harold Wilson Statue) for a walk of The Irish in Huddersfield
About this event
John Lambe explores places associated with Irish immigrants who came to work on the canals, in textiles, construction and recently, to study at the University. The walk will finish at approx. 12.15pm at the Irish Centre for tea and coffee (no charge – donations accepted), followed by a free screening of the first St. Patrick’s Day Parade, from 12.30 – 1.00pm. The walk is approx. 1.5 miles around the town centre, finishing at the Irish Centre, 86 Fitzwilliam Street, HD1 5BB and does involve some steps.
