The Irish Sea in the Viking Age
Wed, 12 Jul 2017, 09:30 – Thu, 13 Jul 2017, 17:00 BST
A conference organized by the Irish Sea in the Middle Ages Research Network (ISMARN)
Recent and current research in a number of disciplines is transforming our understanding of the Irish Sea region in the period known as ‘the Viking Age’ (i.e. the late eighth to twelfth centuries CE).
At this conference we aim to exchange information and to float new ideas about the Irish Sea in the Viking Age from the perspectives of historical, archaeological, literary and cultural studies, with some contributions focusing particularly on the Isle of Man as a crucial nodal point in the region.
Directions to the Manx Museum are here. The iMuseum is a glass-fronted building about 50 yards down Kingswood Grove, to the right of the Manx Museum main entrance.
Please note that places are limited and will be allocated strictly on a first-come-first-served basis. Book early!
