Description

The Ironbridge Lecture - Heritage in the Post Truth World by Loyd Grossman

This year, as part of the Ironbridge Gorge Museum Trust’s 50th anniversary celebrations the lecture will be held in the Engine Shop at Enginuity and will be given by Loyd Grossman, Chairman of the Heritage Alliance. The lecture is organised in association with the Ironbridge International Institiute of Cultural Heritage at the University of Birmingham.

The lecture will explore how the seismic political events of recent years are, in part, the result of meta trends like globalisation, digital expressions of mass opinion and a disdain for elite expertise. These same trends will significantly change how we define and care for our heritage.

In this talk Loyd will look at changing concepts of heritage and how our sector can respond to these new challenges.

Doors open at 6.30pm and the lecture will start at 7pm.

The Ironbridge Gorge Museum Trust is an education and heritage conservation charity and donations to support their work in the World Heritage Site will be welcome at the event. Car parking is £3 per car.
