About our musicians:
On Keys is Marek, a Czech-born pianist from Derby who recently completed a bachelor’s degree in music at The University of Manchester. Whist at university, he played in the Manchester University Big Band for two years, gigging around Manchester venues ranging from the Midland Hotel to Matt and Phred’s Jazz Club. During that time and since, he has also gigged in smaller jazz ensembles, including with jazz fusion band Lick The Moon. As a classically trained pianist as well, he has a performance of Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 4 coming up in December with the Manchester University Symphony Orchestra.
On Sax is Romano, an Italian-Cornish Saxophonist and Clarinettist, Conductor and Orchestra Manager. Having graduated from The University of Manchester - studying under Carl Raven and Anthony Brown - he gigs regularly around Manchester and its hottest venues, including Band on the Wall, Matt & Phreds, Night and Day and the O2 Ritz. His jazz fusion band Lick The Moon has recently released its first studio EP, and as a bandleader his quartet has performed in the Royal Albert Hall and Birmingham’s Symphony Hall. Romano is also a classical saxophonist, having made his soloist debut in 2024 premiering a new concerto for saxophone, electronics and symphony orchestra by Renaldo Ramai, under the baton of Robert Guy.
On vocals is Gracie who is a recently graduated music student from the university of Manchester. In her final year of university she switched from classical piano to jazz singing and it was the best decision she's ever made and she hasn't looked back. Gracie is now living in Manchester as a jazz singer, immersing herself in all the jazz Manchester has to offer! Some of her favourite jazz singers include (but are definitely not limited to) Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, Samara Joy, and Veronica Swift. She hopes to one day reach their level of mastery!
