Explore Newcastle, a vibrant city in the North East of England, famous for its world class culture, inspiring heritage and acclaimed architecture and famous for its local geordie spirit.

From Coast to quayside Newcastle boasts a fascinating and diverse landscape with a culturally rich city with an opportunity to spend time at newcastle's stunning beaches.

Highlights of this Discovery Visit will include:

● A trip to the beach taking the opportunity to learn to surf then finish the day with a BBQ on the beach.

● Spend time at a local youth project SPACE2 a proiect for young people in the city.

● Find out about YMCA Newcastle’s newest social enterprise The Urban Mushroom project. The project consists of farming mushrooms in unused urban spaces in the city centre.

● A historic visit to Newcastle Castle/ located in the heart of the city tells the story of this fascinating historic site by uniting the Black Gate and the Castle.

● Explore the discovery museum which includes exhibitions focusing on the area's maritime, scientific and technological importance to Britain and the rest of the world.

The activities planned will share and celebrate what is rewarding about YMCAs work in this region of England, the role it plays within local communities, and the collaborative approach of multiple local YMCAs on how they work together to seek local solutions to complex national problems.

There will be opportunity to learn about local culture and rich heritage of YMCA in the North East.

This visit is being coordinated by YMCA Newcastle.

Next Steps

Now that you have confirmed the booking for your group we will need a list of all delegates on your trip. This information will need to be sent to discovery@ymcaeurope.com by 14 June.

You will be sent a full itinerary of your visit outlining further details of your visit by 1 July.

Trip Information
Your trip start point is at the accommodation in Newcastle on 1 August and you will need to arrange transport to this location. Your visit will finish at 14.00 Sunday 4 August in London for the start of YMCA175 conference.
