The Joy of Making

The Joy of Making

By The Scottish Gallery

Overview

Join Mark Hearld and Dan Bugg as they discuss their many years of creative collaboration.

Dan Bugg, founder of Penfold Press, is known for his hands-on, collaborative approach to screen printing. Since establishing the press in 2005, he has worked with a small group of artists to create sought-after editioned prints that embody a spirit of joint endeavour. Acting as both publisher and printer, Dan encourages artists to explore the creative possibilities of printmaking in an environment that values experimentation, playfulness and the close relationship between artist and printmaker. Mark Hearld began working with Penfold Press in 2004, producing etchings, screenprints and linocuts that demonstrate his remarkable creativity and enthusiasm for the printed image.

Together, Mark and Dan will reflect on their longstanding partnership, the joys and challenges of collaborative printmaking, and the shared process that has shaped so much of Mark’s printed work.
