Description

Two afternoons offering the opportunity for Anglican and Catholic clergy to engage in conversations about evangelism. The first session will be at Wolvesey on Tuesday 5th June and the second at Hampshire Downs Pastoral Centre, St. Peter’s Church in Winchester on Tuesday 17th July.

Dr Gemma Simmonds CJ, Senior Lecturer at Heythrop College will be speaking on Tuesday 5th June on the subject of “Evangelii Gaudium – What might that mean for parish clergy?”

Dr Gemma Simmonds is a sister of the Congregation of Jesus. After a career in teaching she worked as chaplain in the University of Cambridge and at Heythrop, where she also co-ordinated student support services. Since her return from study and work among women and street children in Brazil in 1992 she has been a volunteer on the chaplaincy team in Holloway Prison.

The second meeting on Tuesday 17th July will take as its starting point the General Synod report Intentional Evangelism (GS1917). The speaker for this session is to be confirmed.

There is no charge for this event but numbers will be limited to 12 clergy from the Diocese of Winchester.

Please ensure that you can attend both dates.

The sessions will include a sandwich lunch. Please advise of any dietary requirements.
