Without limits or artificial ingredients, this is a music that combines a mix of traditions, showing contrasts of volumes, lines, natural textures and expressiveness. What emerges is music of splendid energy, alternately meditative, lyrical, both spontaneous and architected.
The Khoury Project is supported by Ellene Masri
A UK premiere, Ellene Masri performs songs from her critically-acclaimed debut album Music, an acoustic and intimate guitar and piano setting. Her sound combines many international cultural influences: Latin and soul rhythms, with European, Middle Eastern and American melodic sensibilities. She is one of those artists who has to be seen live to completely appreciate her stunning appeal.
About the Artists
The three brothers Osama, Basil and Elia formed the Khoury Trio (now The Khoury Project) in 2002. The Khoury Project music is contemporary, combining identifiable Arabic forms with globalized rhythms. Although faithful to the great tradition of classical Arabic music, the Khoury Project fuses music with many other genres including Opera, flamenco, Celtic, Indian, and jazz.
Composer, arranger and musician, Ellene Masri is an artist with a unique sound, vision, voice and presence. The daughter of a Lebanese father and a French mother, her self-produced debut album, Music, was voted Album of the Week on Jazz FM.
