About this Event

Booking is closed for this event, however still feel free to attend the evening of Wednesday 25th September.

Author of The Killing Snows, Charles Egan will be hosting a talk at the Irish World Heritage Centre, about the potato blight and Great Famine in County Mayo, and how it forms the backdrop to his novel The Killing Snows.

The Killing Snows is the first of a trilogy which explores the effect of the Famine on migration and work.

In 1990, a box of very old documents was found in a cowshed in the West of Ireland. They told the story of a young couple who met in 1846, at the height of the Great Famine.

The Killing Snows Trilogy is a way to imagine what led to their meeting and what followed from it.

Charles Egan’s presentation on September 25 describes how the Books were written, and the real Family and Historical background across Ireland, England, Canada and the USA.

Books will be available for purchase from the author at the event.
