Sponsored and supported locally by Earragael Crafts, Harbour St, Tarbert, Insta - @earrgaelcrafts, FB - Earra Gael.
Nature themed performance of songs and tunes from local musicians, the Fyne Thyme band.
Followed by an authors talk from Anna Levin with her recent book "Dark Skies", our relationship with light/dark, and Sue Reid Sexton with "Writing on the Road: Campervan Love and the Joy of Solitude", having moved to Kintyre in recent years, Sue's love of Kintyre is evident in her writing.
Both authors will read a short excerpt from their publications, then be in conversation including discussing Kintyre's dark skies and our relationship with artificial light.
This will be followed by an optional opportunity to take part in a writing workshop.
We hope to see budding contributors come along to the session and write about the Kintyre way, with stories and pics! We would like to include some on our social media, showing your experience of walking locally or all of the Kintyre Way, or indeed walking and health benefits!
Plus there is the option to purchase lunch, refreshments and snacks from The Gather.
Huge thanks to the Scottish Book Trust for supporting our event with their Live Literature funding.

FRIENDS OF THE KINTYRE WAY
Friends of the Kintyre Way walks provide a great opportunity to explore Kintyre via The Kintyre Way and to meet other Friends of the Kintyre Way, so please come along to as many of the walks as you can. It will also be an opportunity to showcase that Wild and Beautiful 100-mile route that we have on our doorstep. So please take plenty of photos of walkers having fun, the flora and fauna, and the marvellous scenery!
Photos can also be posted on our Facebook pages via the visitor pages of The Kintyre Way and The Friends of the Kintyre Way. You can also post on Kintyre Walks and, of course, share on your own social media channels.
Remember! It's okay to walk more on the Kintyre Way in August than is on the programme. Check out the Walk and Ride leaflets to help you plan.
The Friends of the Kintyre Way kindly host our Kickstarters on the Kintyre Way walks on behalf of The Kintyre Way, which covers the insurance for the event.
By participating in an event organised by The Friends of The Kintyre Way, you are participating in walks hosted by volunteers. They generously offer their time and knowledge for free but may not have formal training in first aid, navigation, or emergency response. Event participants are responsible for assessing their fitness and suitability for participating in activities for their own and other's safety and well-being during the walk. Ensure you are appropriately dressed and equipped, including water, for all conditions.
Regrettably, dogs are not permitted on these organised walks due to the number of participants and the timing constraints, and some walks will cross fields with livestock. However, much of the Kintyre Way is suitable for dogs on a short lead. At all times please follow the Scottish Outdoor Access Code and be a responsible dog walker.
