Let's knit Shaun the Sheep-themed squares for Blankets for London!
Shaun the Sheep, the iconic stop motion character created by Aardman, appeared on screens in 1995’s Wallace & Gromit: A Close Shave, to critical acclaim. To mark 30 years of Shaun’s madcap adventures and worldwide entertainment, Aardman has teamed up with British Wool, Campaign for Wool and Craft Forward to unveil a global knitting and crafting initiative with purpose.
The campaign - ‘Can Ewe Knit It?’ – is a call out to global fans and knitting enthusiasts to knit or crochet a Shaun-inspired blanket square.
The "Can Ewe Knit It?" Knit Club is a special version of Craft Forward's popular Knit Club structured like a relaxed and welcoming knitting and crochet group, open to beginners and experienced makers to come together, knit Shaun-themed squares following our free patterns and connect with fellow makers. The squares produced will go towards the London rendition of our flagship initiative Blankets for the World, Blankets for London.
“Blankets for London” is Craft Forward’s seasonal project where we assemble blankets to donate to unhoused individuals in London through our partner charities.
During this Knit Club, we will be focusing on knitting colourwork heavy patterns, using intarsia and stranded colourwork techniques. For beginners, we have a simplified garter stitch pattern.
I want to participate in "Blankets for the World": please check out your closest collection hub by clicking HERE.
We are collecting already assembled blankets. Our Standard size is 100x140cm, or 35 squares. We are prioritising collecting already assembled blankets from this year in the hope of helping out our volunteers and ultimately distributing more blankets to people experiencing houselessness.
If you are planning on contributing less than 35 squares, you can post us 20x20cm squares of any yarn thickness and stitch pattern (ends weaved in please!)
We are not accepting yarn donations at this time.

Pictures will be taken during this session: please let us know if you'd rather not be photographed, we want to make sure everyone is comfortable.
