You are invited to attend ‘The Knowledge for Music Leaders.’ This free event and networking session is taking place on Monday 29 October 2012, 2:00pm – 6:00pm at The Y, Leicester.
The afternoon will be split into two sections finishing with a short informal networking session. To outline briefly;
Section one will be looking at the following;
Music Education Hubs – The new music education landscape, what are the opportunities for music leaders and looking at the Qualified Music Educator
Contracts and fees – Should you have a contract? Who with and how much? Understanding your employment status and implications for you.
Health and safety – Risk assessments, should you know about fire procedures, first aid provisions and what about noise exposure?
Child protection issues – CRB checks, what are your responsibilities, good working practice and an update on the current legislation.
MU Teaching Section – What do we do and how can we help you in your work. MU Teachers’ Section resources accessible for members.
Accessing public liability insurance and tax advice – Helpful contacts and basic information.
Section two will look at;
Music Leading – What makes a music leader? Introduction to attributes and skills needed.
Resources – What should you have in your toolkit? How to build your resources and where to share best practice.
How to plan – Considerations when structuring and delivering sessions.
Achieving objectives – Thoughts on how to achieve active participation and ownership from participants.
Evaluation – What is the importance of evaluation? Why should we seek feedback and reflect on our practice?
Portfolio careers – Could you diversify? What opportunities are out there?
