Description

Madeleine Bunting is the author of four books. Her most recent, Love of Country, A Hebridean Journey, published in 2016, was shortlisted for the Wainwright and the Saltire Society Prizes.

In 2010 'The Plot, the story of an English Acre' won the Portico Prize and was shortlisted for the Royal Society of Literature's Ondaatje Prize. Her first novel, Island Song will be published by Granta in 2019. She was a journalist on the Guardian until 2013, and a columnist 2000-2012 winning several prizes for her work on race, identity, global development and faith. She lives in East London and is currently working on a book on care and the crisis of human sustainability, The Labours of Love which will be published by Granta in 2020. She is a regular BBC Radio contributor.
