Abstract

The emergence of the contemporary security issue shows a reorganisation of Argentine society that can be observed in the transformations of social policy and crime control, but it is also strongly expressed in the ways in which security organises the relationship between different social groups and maps the urban space. The primary objective of this paper is to analyse perceptions of security and the link with social policy in different socio-occupational groups, considering how they explain and understand the “social causes” of insecurity and how these problematizations build different forms of sociability.
