Description

Be part of the conversation about what your future holds at The Lates: Work It!.

Have you ever wondered what the true value of that internship you are doing is?

And where is the line between working towards getting a job and giving away your intellectual property for free?

Want to know how you can be part of creating an inclusive, diverse and sustainable industry?

At Work It we are going to break down, explore and look at ways we can rebuild creative employment to fit your future.

Lead by our very own, Derek Yates (Course Leader, BA Digital Advertising and Design) panelists will include Alec Dudson (Intern Mag), Kati Howell, (The GirlHood), Charlie Patterson (It’s Nice That Grad 2013), Dines (Studio Blup) and Malin Persson (Ravensbourne Grad 2015 and Global Development Manager at Glug).

All this will be topped off with your chance to join the debate around the talkaoke table whilst enjoying the complimentary bar so don’t miss out and get your tickets now.

We will be hearing from...

Alec Dudson // Intern Magazine

Alec is co-founder and Editor-in- chief of Intern, a platform producing constantly evolving content, support and training for and by the creative youth. Since 2013, Alec’s work has revolved around the beliefs that young people are the future and that the creative industries have a fundamental problem when it comes to representation. His mission to empower emerging creatives also manifests as workshops, talks, freelance writing and as lecturer at Leeds Arts University, leading the professional practice module on level 6 graphic design.

Malin Persson // Glug

Malin is the girl behind all things Glug. Originally from Sweden she moved to Sydney in 2010 to study Design only to realise that ‘Dang! I’m so far away from… everything’, and ended up relocating to London to study Graphic Design at Ravensbourne instead. After 3 amazing years at Ravensbourne she made a conscious decision to not use her degree to it’s full extent but to honour her passion for the creative industries and love for people and so landed a job as a Community Manager at Glug. Fast forward 2 years and she now heads up all things Glug HQ and has earned her stripes by growing the franchise, optimising the products they scale and working with a community-first vision for the network. Malin’s work and dedication to the industry have put her on the shortlist for Campaigns “Digital Mavericks 2017”, and listed in BIMA’s "Hot 100 2017” as a “Rising Star”.

Kati Russell // The Girlhood

Kati is a consultant, producer and educator with over 15 years experience in the creative and cultural industries. She’s worked commercially, client and agency side, as well as managed D&AD’s international New Blood Awards, Festival and Academy. She is also co-founder of The GirlHood, a series of projects that aim to get a richer mix of young women interested in creative careers. In two years, over 200 girls aged 14-24yrs have come through the hood. They find girls with creative potential and transition them from culture—consumers to culture—producers. Through learning experiences, content and connections, they work to get these girls ready for industry. And industry ready for the girls. An unapologetic sisterhood of creators working for a new equality.

Charlie Oscar Patterson's artwork is routed in his fascination with colour and minimal forms. With a background in Graphic Design; studying at Chelsea College of Art & Design, his work is informed by a structured, gridded approach. Charlie works on small scale relief paintings and large scale murals. In the final year of his degree, Charlie was featured by Its Nice That as part of ‘the Graduates’ and his ‘Creative Club’ initiative led to him being asked to design the front cover of Creative Review Magazine.
