In these troubling times, we continue to look at the key issues. It is now time to invite an acknowledged expert for his insights.

In this session Deloitte’s Chief Economist, Ian Stewart, joins The Leaders Club to examine prospects for the UK and global economies in the light of the deepest downturn since the Great Depression. Mass immunisation offers the prospect of a return to growth in 2021 yet risks, from high public debt levels to surging unemployment, abound. Ian will consider the outlook for growth and how the pandemic is likely to reshape economies and business.

About Ian Stewart:

Stewart is a Partner and Chief UK Economist at Deloitte where he advises Boards and companies on macroeconomics. Ian devised the Deloitte Survey of Chief Financial Officers and writes a popular weekly economics blog, the Monday Briefing, in addition to hosting the fortnightly COVID-19 webinar: health, economics and business.

His previous roles include Chief Economist for Europe at Merrill Lynch, Head of Economics in the Conservative Research Department and Special Adviser to the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions. Ian was educated at the London School of Economics.
