The Learning on Screen Video Essay Guide Launch
Event Information
About this Event
Drawing on the inspiring work of pioneering educators and researchers engaging with this creative method, Dr Estrella Sendra (Teaching Fellow in Global Media Industries, WSA) and Bartolomeo Meletti (Education and Research Executive of Learning on Screen) have produced a guide that aims to offer a research-led introduction for students, teachers and researchers approaching the video essay for the first time.
The Introductory Guide to Video Essays is now publicly available to everyone via Learning on Screen.
The aim of this online launch is to offer an overview of the various sections and resources included in this guide.
We are delighted to be joined by several contributors that have made this guide possible. Speakers include:
Prof Christian Keathley (Professor of Film and Media Culture, Founding co-editor of [in]Transition), Prof Tracy Cox-Stanton (Prof in Cinema Studies in SCAD, The University for Creative Careers and founder and Editor of The Cine-Files); Dr Charlotte Crofts (Associate Professor Filmmaking, University of West England, Bristol and Editor of Screenworks); Dr Shane O'Sullivan (Senior Lecturer in Filmmaking at Kingston University and Curator of Archives for Education); Will DiGravio (host of The Video Essay Podcast and Associate Editor of Screenworks ); and Alix Lafosse, SOAS alumni, independent researcher and co-founder and journalist of Guiti News.
The format of the launch will be rather informal and interactive. Following some welcoming words by Estrella Sendra and Bartolomeo Meletti, speakers will deliver 5-7 minute lightening talks introducing each of the sections.
There will be around 15 minutes at the end for a Q&A with all speakers, where everyone is welcome to take part.
The meeting will be hosted via ZOOM. Please find bellow, the details:
