Event Details

The Leeds Midnight Run: ‘Not all those who wander are lost’.

WHAT?

The Midnight Run is a walking, dusk to dawn, arts and culture-inspired urban journey. It gathers complete strangers and local artists to explore, play and create whilst the city sleeps. Poet and Musician Andy Craven Griffiths will host the first ever Midnight Run in Leeds in collaboration with Leeds Dock.

WHY?

The Midnight Run aims to negate the frenzy and hysteria of mass media, pop culture, hype and reality TV with actual reality, and true interpersonal engagement. The idea is to reclaim the streets, dispel the notion of ‘danger after dark’, and to discover the city and its hidden spaces from a new perspective. It is to inhabit the confines of glass, concrete, steel, and tarmac, as a child does a maze; with as much innocence and wonderment as is natural.

WHEN AND WHERE?

The Leeds Midnight Run will begin at 5.45pm on Saturday 25th April, meeting outside The Royal Armouries. Participants are advised to dress for the weather, bring a pen, note pad, cash for food and above all a healthy sense of adventure.

The event will end in Leeds city centre, at midnight (00:00 on Sunday 26th April) after moving around the city like a herd of benevolent, arty, raconteur zombies.

WHO?

There are tickets for a maximum of thirty participants, so get them quickly! Additionally, five local artists are invited to participate but will also give pop up performances and/or micro- workshops along the journey.

Cause we can’t see stars for fumes we turn to smashed glass, believing shards shine like constellations do.
