The Legendary Gazelles + Smokestack Lightning and Are You Succeed?
The Gazelles gigged regularly in Norwich in the late 1980s and gained mythical status in November 1987. Their music was described by one of the band as Power Pop, the rest fell about laughing but could not think of anything better. The band split in July 1989 due to geographical differences. Following a twenty-eight year hiatus they have played occasional gigs, most recently in 2023. Expect a blend of 20th-century Gazelle classics and newer material.
Smokestack Lightning burst onto the Hastings music scene in the late 1970s with an energy that quickly made them a local favourite. Drawing on punk, rhythm and blues and soul influences, their live shows captured the collective spirit of a coastal town in full swing.
