Humanitarian Centre Cambridge International Development Report Launch at the Liberated Feast!
The event contains a mixture of exciting elements. To give you a sneak peak, there will be:
- A 'Marketplace' of organisation's stalls showcasing their work and stalls of local produce.
- A wine reception to kick-start the celebration
- Speeches made by Humanitarian Centre members and associated speakers regarding our Global Food Futures.
- The Liberated Feast - a beautiful three course vegan banquet for over 100 lovely people from surplus produce that would otherwise be wasted. Produce sourced from Farms, Markets, Veg box schemes, Local producers, Allotment holders, Foraging and Retailers.
- Local musicians and entertainers will compliment the delicious food with their fabulous sounds and sights.
The Liberated Feast's aims fit in snuggly with The Humanitarian Centre's 5th annual report, which focuses on our global food futures and what we all can do to ensure that there is enough food for everyone in the world, everyday.
The report will be launched with a wine reception from 5.30pm and marketplace before the feast, where you can meet Humanitarian Centre members and community groups working for fairer, more sustainable food production and consumption. There will be guest speakers throughout the evening.
Find out more about the Humanitarian Centre, their member organisations and their work at: http://www.humanitariancentre.org/
Please bring a bottle if you would like a tipple on the night, water will of course be provided.
In parallel to all this, proceeds from the event go to supporting a school feeding project on for the Milimani School on Kenyas Rusinga Island. Raising funds to build, staff and support a kitchen to provide the children's entire daily nutrition and create a school permaculture food growing space. The cost is £5000 and so far we have raised £1000 and are already supporting the schools breakfast feeding programme.
The Liberated Feast Project is also developing an educational programme, working with schools and communities to explore the global food system and create their own Liberated Feasts.
We would be absolutely delighted for you to join us on this special and exciting occasion.
