Event description

Description

Dick Sheppard will entertain the Swindon Group with stories of his stunt motorcycle life.
Recounting experiences while filming for blockbuster films, making TV appearances, or performing at live arena shows.

There are stories involving animals, especially horses and world record breaking. For the petrol heads there are numerous close shaves with cars, motor cycles and even aeroplanes, including a very special autogyro.
He entered the first post war motorcycle scramble and carried on with every motorcycle activity as it became available – including trials riding, grass track racing, speedway, motorcycle football, ice racing and even the Wall of
Death!

He was a first year driver when Stock Car Racing was introduced in 1954 and went on to run motorcycle and car crash stunt shows. This lead to a career in TV and such classic big screen films – such as helping Michael Caine make a clean getaway with the gold bullion in the ‘The Italian Job’ as well as helping James Bond 007 escape his pursuers in ‘Thunderball’ and ‘Diamonds Are Forever’.

He has now self-published a book on my childhood experiences called ‘My Wild Youth In Gloucestershire’.

Join us for a fun night with light refreshments - bring your own tipple and nibbles if you wish.
