About this event
Performance: The Life and Times of Adam Smith
To mark the end of our COP26 programme we would like to invite you to an innovative hybrid lecture-performance on The Life and Times of Adam Smith, following on from our two-part lecture series.
The event is a unique opportunity to hear from world-leading experts on the personal and intellectual history of Adam Smith, while seeing key moments from that history brought to life by a group of performers, with opening and closing addresses from Kate Forbes, Scottish Cabinet Secretary for Finance, and Kaisie Rayner, Climate Change Lead at Royal London and one of the authors contributing to The Wealth of Nations in the 21st Century essay series launched earlier in the week.
Join us for this one-off cultural event celebrating concluding GEFI's COP26 events, in partnership with Royal London.
Refreshments will be provided.
The evening will feature appearances from:
- Kate Forbes, Cabinet Secretary for Finance, Scottish Government
- Kaisie Rayner, Climate Change Lead, Royal London
- Dr. Craig Smith, Senior Lecturer in Scottish Enlightenment, Adam Smith Business School, University of Glasgow
And last, but by no means least:
- Adam Smith
- (and his Mum)
We look forward to seeing you there.
Adam Smith at the COP
Across COP26, we have held a series of events celebrating the life of Adam Smith, Glasgow's most famous academic son, and exploring the economics of the climate crisis.
Academics, finance practitioners and more have discussed and debated the core economic questions at the heart of COP26, as well as the enduring value that Smith's thinking holds.
In addition, we have launched a unique essay series entitled The Wealth of Nations in the 21st Century, updating the Wealth of Nations with 5 original essays inspired by the 5 'books' of the original.
