Event description

Description

Composing during the latter part of the eighteenth century, a similar period to the French artists and craftsmen featured in our Gilded Interiors exhibition, Joseph Boulogne, Chevalier de Saint-Georges (often referred to as the ‘black Mozart’) was a man with a dark skin who broke through the social conventions of the time to become a favourite of Marie Antoinette. We are delighted to welcome Donald Macleod, writer and presenter of BBC Radio
3’s flagship programme, Composer of the Week, to discuss and introduce works of this talented yet neglected
composer.

The Wallace Restaurant will remain open before and after the concert for drinks and dinner.
