Event description
A journey through the life of St Frideswide through Medieval and Renaissance music for upper voices.

About this Event

The Korrigan Consort welcomes you to join our celebration of a phenomenal figure in Oxford: St Frideswide, the Patron Saint of Oxford.

Our concert kicks off a week of events at Christ Church Cathedral in celebration of Frideswide and her dedication to the wellbeing of her local community. We will follow in her footsteps by telling her story through an evening of reflection with medieval and Renaissance polyphony, with particular focus on music from convents in France, Italy and the Low Countries. The concert will also feature a new piece setting the legend of St. Frideswide, as well as a reading of Jacqueline Holderness’ new book, The Princess Who Hid in a Tree. In the historical setting of Christ Church Cathedral, right next to the Shrine of St Frideswide, this concert in particular marks the permanent establishment of the Frideswide Voices as the official girls’ choir at Christ Church Cathedral.

This performance will be in collaboration with Elizabeth Kenny and Sara Salloum.

October 12, 8 pm - Christ Church Cathedral (North Transcept)

£15 (standard)/£7 (under 26s)

Children under 16 go free

Tickets available on the door and on our website. A wine reception after the concert will be available.

"The Korrigan Consort have a style and professional technique that marks them out as a very special group of musicians – and we have had the delight to have heard them more than once and we wish that delight on others who come to hear them.”

~Simon Kearey, Chair of the Wycombe Arts Festival
