Renowned Shakespeare critic and biographer Sir Jonathan Bate discusses his magisterial and controversial study of the Poet Laureate. Shortlisted for the Samuel Johnson Prize, Ted Hughes: The Unauthorised Life describes the life, loves and works of one of Britain’s greatest poets, focusing particularly on Hughes’s lifelong quest to come to terms with the suicide of his first wife Sylvia Plath. Bate is in conversation with Hughes and Plath aficionado, writer and critic Bel Mooney.
