About this Event

Life of the Buddha (Session 1 ) 20 January 2021 wednesday

The word 'Buddha' means to be awake. But who was the historical Buddha? How did he awaken? And how did his teachings come to have such an impact on the world? Ven. Sean will give an overview of the life and times of the historic Buddha Shakyamuni.

The First and Fundamental teaching of Buddha: The Four Noble Truths (Session 2/3) 27 January & 3 February 2021 Wednesdays

Having awakened, the first activity of Buddha Shakyamuni, was to teach. He set off for the Deer Park in Sarnarth, near Varanasi (Benares) and there met his five former companions. It was to them he gave his first teaching: The Four Noble Truths - The truth of dukka (dissatisfaction), its cause or origin, the cessation of dukka and the spiritual path leading to an inner contentment and ultimately an Enlightened mind.

There will be a 5 minute meditation before the teachings.
