Event description

Description

London. Christmas Eve. The snow is falling.

A little girl struggles fiercely through the cold. We follow her throughout the day as she encounters the funny and zany characters of the vibrant city streets. In an attempt to stay warm she strikes a match.

The flame blazes to life, illuminating fantastic Christmas visions. We meet talking turkeys, dancing rats, Queen Victoria and Prince Albert and their chattering Christmas tree.

In this touching, madcap and heart-warming Christmas show, The Last Baguette use visual story telling, live music and puppetry to shine a light on Hans Christian Andersen’s classic winter tale.

The Last Baguette have performed in the UK, France, Switzerland and Canada, and are company in residence at Pound Arts, Corsham. The theatre they make is entertaining, accessible and eccentric.

Written by T. A. Woodsmith Sunday Times Playwriting Award winner.

Supported by Arts Council England.

Partnership with North Devon Foodbank

During the week of the show, Bideford Library will be a temporary drop off point for North Devon Foodbank. North Devon Foodbank helps those who are facing crisis within the local community by sorting and distributing emergency food parcels, at Christmas and throughout the year. We'd like to invite all attendees to bring along an item to donate!

North Devon foodbank have requested the below items as a priority:

Tinned soup
Tinned tomatoes
Tinned fruit
Pasta Sauce
Long-life Juice
Long-life Milk
Dried Milk
Biscuits
Currently the foodbank has plenty of beans, tea and breakfast cereal and don't need these three items.

Thank you all in advance for your generosity - we hope that you enjoy the show.
