Event description

Description

The Wellcome Trust funded ISSF 3 programme’s Industry Research Team, based at the University of Exeter’s Living Systems Institute (LSI), has arranged for the Medicines Discovery Catapult (MDC) to visit the LSI on Friday, 13th September 2019.

The aim of the programme is to help promote innovation in the local Exeter-based life sciences ecosystem. This event is open to academics across the University of Exeter and SMEs with links to the University.

The event (including lunch) is free to attend, but registration is necessary.

MDC enables academics and SMEs involved in translational biomedical research to develop their therapeutic discovery projects and associated technologies. Their capabilities include:

  • Discovery Science & Technology – Laboratory technology and expertise focused around complex cell models, target validation, biomarkers, drug delivery and pre-clinical imaging.

  • InformaticsIn silico methods and expertise in screening, repurposing and chemical space searching – including AI and machine learning tools.

  • Virtual R&D – Industrially rigorous advice in drug discovery and the delivery of projects.

  • Syndicates – New collaborative models for drug discovery centred around medical research charities and patient needs.

  • Samples & Data – Brokering access to patient-consented tissue and data.

MDC works with academics and SMEs in a variety of ways, including collaborating on and supporting grant applications.

If you are an Exeter-based academic or an SME involved in drug discovery, we strongly urge you to attend this event and find out how to collaborate. You can also pre-book 1:1s with the MDC team, but please note that these spaces are limited, so booking quickly is highly recommended. Those interested in booking a 1:1 slot are requested to email Dr. Jehangir Cama (j.cama@exeter.ac.uk) at the earliest opportunity.
